Influenster Box Review: MKGlam Box

HI Everyone! Let me start by apologizing for the fact that it’s been a couple of weeks since I uploaded a post.  I had a very crazy couple of weeks and I will definitely try to be more consistent.

A while ago I posted a picture on Instagram showing the items that I got in my first ever Influenster VoxBox.  First, if you’re not familiar with Influenster, it is a semi-subscription service.  What I mean by that is that you sign up for the service, but it’s not really a subscription service in that you don’t pay and it’s not monthly. Basically, you fill out a profile and you are giving an Influenster impact score, which basically tracks your social media scores and how well your reviews of products, etc. on Influenster is received, than when a box is appropriate to the type of things that you’re profile shows that you are interested in becomes available they send you an email and you have the opportunity to get a box full of products to review.  These boxes called VoxBoxes vary in size, value, product types (everything from food to cosmetics to workout gear).  In short, I highly recommend that you sign up for Influenster, it costs nothing and gives you an opportunity to try great products for free.

Shortly after I joined Influenster, I received a Mary Kay Cosmetics VoxBox complimentary to review the products inside and give my honest opinion on them.  First let me say that I was impressed with the size of the products inside, they are all full sized which is great because you can really test not only the products themselves but also the packaging and get the full experience of using them for a while before having to give an opinion on them.  Just as a final disclaimer, I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.

Overall, I was so super impressed with these products that I have already ordered more AND I reached out to a Mary Kay consultant to host a virtual Mary Kay Party, which will be happening this coming Tuesday (May 20th), so please RSVP to the event here if you’re interested.

My box also contained a wide variety of items:

  • Mary Kay® Bronzing Powder in Light/Medium
  • Mary Kay® Translucent Loose Powder
  • Mary Kay® Mineral Cheek Color in Shy Blush
  • Mary Kay® Powder Brush
  • Mary Kay® Cream Eye Color in Apricot Twist
  • Mary Kay® Cream Eye Color/Concealer Brush
  • Mary Kay® Gel Eyeliner with Expandable Brush Applicator in Jet Black
  • Mary Kay® Lash Love® Mascara
  • Mary Kay® NouriShine Plus® Lip Gloss in Mango Tango

So first for the Bronzer.  I LOVE this product.  When I first saw the Bronzer, I thought it wasn’t going to show up on me because it was so pale in the pan and it looked too shimmery, but on the skin, Holy Cow, it is perfect.  Yes, I said perfect. It has nuetral undertones, which means it doesn’t look orangey at all and will look natural on all skin tones, also I find that even though it looks shimmery in the pan, it really has a satin finish when it goes on, so it really looks like skin.  Just beautiful and great for all over color or contouring. I highly recommend.

Next the translucent powder.  First, I love the packaging on this product, the top has a twist closure, which is great because it doesn’t make a huge mess like most loose powders, which I really like. I will be honest, when I first received this, I thought I was not going to be able to use it,  my skin was really dry from both the terribly long winter we’d been having and from all of my business travel, so I wasn’t using a powder at all because I didn’t want it to look cakey or have my skin look like concrete.  But this powder has a slight luminosity to it so it gives skin a great glow and I use it to set my under eye concealer because it doesn’t settle into fine lines and the light reflecting property is great to disguise the lines.  I would be careful when using this though because like all translucent powders, it can definitely give a white cast if you use too much, so just a light layer is all you need.

Next for the shy blush. I think this is one that everyone will like, it goes on sheer so it prevents that clown look. Plus its really great for that lit from within look and its an amazing dupe for Nars’s super popular and super expensive Orgasm blush. The only difference is that this one is a little sheerer, which I personally like because its hard to overdo it.

I like the Mary Kay Powder brush for applying this blush, even though its not the softest brush it is really nice for an even application and it has a really nice weight to it. But it does contribute to the sheerness of the blush application, so if you want a heavier application a denser brush will help with that.

Now for a couple of my favorites. The ones that I can not live without are the eye products, especially the eye shadow.  The color in Apricot Twist I use just about every day, it looks beautiful on its own for a easy, quick look, but its neutral enough for me to use under any eyeshadow as a base and to extend the wear and hide veins. It makes any eyeshadow last all day.

I also love the gel eyeliner. Its super black and soft yet sets instantly. I highly recommend that you try it if you like super dark eyeliners, its great for a cat eye and it doesn’t tug and once it sets, it doesn’t go anywhere. The mascara will really depend on your preferences, its great for adding definition and lengths but its not the most volumizing. I like it, it looks natural and gives that added oomph with absolutely no clumping.

And now for the most surprising product. If you have been around this spring, you know that Orange lips are a big trend and I always thought that orange lips would look awful on me because I have light-medium skin with neutral undertones, not palish looking but more peachy, so I have both pink and yellow, which means I have to be balanced, if I wear something yellow-toned it could make me look weird.  So I would never ever have picked this color, but honestly its the best kind of orange.  It has reddish undertones, so its flattering on everyone and it allows just enough of your natural lip color to come through to look just beautiful and be very wearable. I LOVE love and I actually really enjoy wearing this, its very complexion perfecting. And the formula is just amazing, its very moisturizing and comfortable to wear.  Very long wearing and not at all sticky. I actually liked the formula so much that i already bought another one.
